Minerva “Minnie” Marzouca

Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend

Minerva Marzouca passed away surrounded by love, leaving a legacy of courage, generosity, and unshakeable devotion to her family. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, British West Indies, Minnie became a U.S. citizen at four years old and made Brooklyn her lifelong home. She raised her family with fierce protection and boundless heart- doing what needed to be done, not always what was easy.

Minnie is survived by her daughters Bianca, Anita, and Renee; her cherished grandson Dorian; and her sisters Agnes West and Michelle Gennari. She was “Mom” not only to her children but to their friends and the kids on the block - opening her door, her table, and her heart to anyone in need. She gave with her whole spirit, the kind of woman who would offer her last dollar and a warm meal, and somehow still find a laugh to lift the room.

A loving, caring, and compassionate soul, Minnie left lasting impressions wherever she went. She was proud and resilient - a fighter who lived by her own compass - yet patient and forgiving, with a sense of humor that made it easy to joke about anything. To her daughters, she was a best friend and a safe place; you could tell her anything without judgment, and she was always on your side. Her laughter - easy and contagious - will be remembered in every family story.

Minnie’s greatest accomplishments were the strong, independent adults she raised and the honorable young man her grandson became, whom she delighted in “spoiling rotten.” She taught by example: be honest, be kind, be brave. She cherished simple joys - crocheting, trips to Florida for the sand, sun, manatees, and sea, and the companionship of her dogs, Nacho and Averie.

Minnie loved deeply and widely; she was mother, mentor, and friend to many. The echoes of her kindness, humor, and unwavering loyalty will live on in the lives she shaped and the hearts she healed. May her memory be a blessing and her love our lasting guide.
