James Henry Blackford, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service to others. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tina Thaxton-Blackford; his cherished children, Jaylon Blackford and James Henry Blackford Jr.; and his dear brother, Kevin Blackford.

James dedicated his career to advocating for those facing mental health challenges. With compassion and commitment, he provided housing resources and support for individuals experiencing homelessness and substance misuse disorders. His professional work was a reflection of his deep care for others and his desire to make the world a better place.

In addition to his advocacy, James was a talented and well-known musician, especially recognized for his skill as a drummer. He was also a gifted cook, bringing joy to family and friends through meals prepared with creativity and love.

James will be remembered as a man with a big heart, well respected by all who knew him. He carried himself with dignity and poise, and his humor and presence lit up every room. His unforgettable laugh brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to hear it.

Among the many treasured memories, his wife Tina recalls knowing from the very beginning that he would be her husband—a testament to the true love they shared.

James’ favorite pastimes included music and experimenting in the kitchen, creating different dishes that showcased his passion for life and creativity.
