Amalia “Margie” Pascual
With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Amalia “Margie” Pascual, who passed away on August 18, 2026, at the age of 81.
Born on November 16, 1944, Margie lived a life filled with love, creativity, laughter, compassion, and an unwavering devotion to the people around her. She was honest, kind, loving, strong, determined, animated, and wonderfully funny. She had a personality that could fill a room, a good sense of humor, and an open heart that made people feel welcomed and cared for.
Margie shared a beautiful and enduring love with her husband, John. From the moment he first met her, he could not take his eyes off of her and knew that she was the woman he would marry. She became the love of his life, and together they built a family and a lifetime of memories.
Above all else, Margie was proud to be a mother and a caregiver. She devoted herself to her children, her family, her friends, and so many others who were fortunate enough to be part of her life. Caring for people came naturally to her. She loved deeply, gave freely, and had a way of making those around her feel important.
Creativity was also an important part of Margie’s life. She was a talented artist and art teacher who loved all forms of art, especially painting. She also enjoyed music, crafting, and puzzles. For 30 years, she served as a Girl Scout leader, sharing her time, creativity, patience, and guidance with generations of young people. Through her teaching and leadership, she touched lives far beyond her immediate family.
Margie was a genuinely happy person who approached life with strength and determination. Those who knew her will never forget the unmistakable sound of her calling for someone with her distinct whistle or with an enthusiastic “¡Oye!” It was uniquely Margie, and hearing it meant she was nearby.
Some of the happiest memories with Margie were made at Coney Island. She loved going to the beach, sitting in the sand, floating in the water, and enjoying sandwiches, pizza, or Nathan’s with the people she loved. She enjoyed walking along the boardwalk, people watching, listening to music, dancing, and inevitably running into someone she knew. She even rode the Cyclone, although she kept her eyes closed. For Margie and her family, Coney Island will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Margie is survived by her loving husband, John, her daughter Sabrina and her husband Michael, her daughter Jennifer and her husband Eric, her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, her niece Olga, her sister Jessie, and her many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Margie will be remembered for the love she gave, the laughter she created, the art and beauty she shared, and the strength with which she lived her life. She leaves behind countless memories and a legacy of kindness, compassion, creativity, and devotion to family.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but the happiness she brought into the lives of others will remain. In every family gathering, every song, every piece of art, every walk along the Coney Island boardwalk, and perhaps every familiar whistle or call of “¡Oye!”, there will always be a little piece of Margie.
